I think often that accepting things is what we do when we see that we cannot control them, as if we needed to either control or accept in the first place. Often making an effort or struggling to accept something isn't necessary in the first place. It is knowing when acceptance is needed and when not that is the key and the more that we realize how little control we actually have in life, the less we will need to accept things, and just be! :)
Acceptance is a source of love and a way to accomodate those who are different.
