Embracing The Weather...

It's drastically cold no I have heard where some can't take the heat but I can assure you that I have never seen it so cold as today. It's funny how one can trick the brain into thinking otherwise.

I was out to the gym. I choose to just get to it ironically within the morning you don't think you just act and well I did not over do it. I decided enough was enough as back some three years ago when I was living here I realized how cold it could get but according to what I read within the newspaper this is the coldest it's ever been in these parts. However the combination of the cold there after really hits right to the bone.

Now some are within areas where you have the true four seasons - we do here but this is the first time I think since 1943 that we had had such weather and you just have to dress accordingly.

I really would love to say that I am embracing what it all but when you see people that have moved here from a variety of areas and wearing winter coats and tukes it's not how it usually is for this time of the year.

The furnace is on and I think most everyone within this city has literally so quickly made the change. Climate structures are different from all over the world and well the only thing that comes to mind is Siberia! :)

There is an old farmers saying that you have to have a good sense of humor to live within these parts during this time of year as fashion certainly goes out the door! :) I pulled out my long johns. As it really is cold to the bone. I am certain the geese have already headed south - with no doubt.

"Wake me up when October ends..." just kidding. :)

  1. Stay warm Jack! It is still beautiful, and almost hot here during the day. It cools off nicely at night.

  2. Nancie I have and right now it's the coldest. Over there is much like what I would think would be like here during the summer...
But not now! But you slowly adjust to it. My ponder is how the old folks were able to do this. That is three generations back.

  3. Awww! It sounds as if you are chilled to the bone. My goodness ... as much as I love the colder temps I'm a wee bit chilly here myself this evening as it is very blustery and in the low 40s. Admittedly, the darkened angry-looking skies and the lower temps energize me completely! I am wrapped within a big comfy sweater and sipping on hot spicy chai tea as I visit here with you. Would you like to borrow my big ol' Redskins blanket? lol Wishing you warm thoughts to keep you cozy and safe this evening. :)

Same to you and as well I wished to mention that I recall Morris Day very well :) Smiling!

  5. Isn't that a song? "Wake me up when September's Over" or some such thing? It has been brisk here too but sunny. I did spend time the last 2 days though putting away the summer clothes and digging out flannel nightwear and packing up things for Big Brothers. I found all the toques and gloves and boots too just in case.

  9. That was last winter it was -30c.
This was my intention with today and one finds that inner spirit and determination to surpass obstacles and do what they need to do.
I did that for that very reason Silvia. And every day from now till then I am.

  10. An unfortunate turn of conditions, my friend!!! Your question above as to how "older folks" handle (handled) such harsh conditions seems very relevant. It's hard to live in a super-duper cold climate---I admire anyone who can take it to task. Too much shoveling, scraping and wrapping of this-n-that for me... :-)

Stay cozy. At least you can enjoy wrapping up with a favorite throw, a nice cup of tea or coco and your favorite flannel pjs!!!

  11. I know, and it's the only thing that I really can be honest in saying Sue...I don't like the super duper cold :)
Meanwhile British Columbia I believe is much warmer...hmmm.
Utopia is under the feet even if you have to shovel your way out when the sn___w comes...:)

  12. A fellow walking by today said he saw a dusting of snow up on top of the hills. I told him to stop talking "dirty" and he laughed and carried on.

  14. Karyn never say the "s" word....LOL.
I always do that around this time and if we don't say it - then perhaps it won't happen...
Wishful thinking....as it shall - but not yet. :)
