I am not sure where and when a few decisions will be made but I know that I know that this week was one that was going left, right, and center.
Just to mention one. I had earlier took my vehicle in and had all the rugs cleaned out last week, after making a move I had taken out all the back seats and thereafter I wished to have them all cleaned there are a few different specialized places there that will do you entire car, truck, van. One is called “Cupids Cleaners” but when you drive past it, on the outside of the building and around it – it’s so dirty, I thought this name cupid didn’t necessarily fit in the best of the best of this sort of cleaning. So then there was “Bubbles”. And a very neat operation that certainly did a great job with the carpet.
I thought I would take it on my own. Cleaning the seats afterwards. I had a bottle of rug cleaner – that I thought would work fine. Prior to going to have the interior rugs cleaned, I had left the bottle of cleaner behind my drivers seat where there is a net to place things in. Little did I know that the cans would change after I left!
How this “Bubbles” place works there is a staff of about 15 people that clean your car, you sit inside or outside, and they have a variety of people working for them and they did a great job. It's done in an an assembly manner, yet as my carpets did need cleaning and I decided that I was not going to take the full package but just have the rugs cleaned. Some how by way of mistake, someone accidentally mixed up bottles. my can of carpet cleaner had been replaced with some solvent that is used for tire leaks. Little did I know till much later...
So here I am happy as can be and I had gotten the can and brought down on the ground in the garage two of four seats to clean. This can looked the same as my other, and I went to it like with such enthusiasm – as I was going to bring the seats to be as clean as can be. Little did I know I was spraying them down with a solvent that reeked to high heaven. And here I thought I was doing a might fine job! I did it so fast and plastered them down thinking I would be then coming back to them the very next evening and, here before that I could see that there was something wrong, as a cleaner never will smell like this. So off to “Bubbles” I went.
I explained what had happened and they were able to get out the solvent and smell. And over and above that, they cleaned the seats after and scotch guarded them. As well, they placed them back into position (which is a tricky thing to do). But I do know that I am going to look at what the can says from here on in. As never spray down something with a solvent - it wont clean you seats, it could very well do the opposite.
Oh, not a fun experience. Good thing Bubbles were there to save the situation. There is always a solution (a clean one, to resolve your solvent solution problem lol). I guess when that was over with, you must have been tempted to call it a day. Good night to you.
ReplyDeleteHow lucky for you that Bubbles were able to save the carpets. I definitely will read the labels from now on and I will remember your little story. Have a good night.
ReplyDeleteG'day Jack,
ReplyDeleteHow frustrating for you after all that work, but I bet you now have the cleanest back seats in the city,
I had done something that I thought was going to look so good little did I know someone had switched the container. lol
ReplyDeleteThe carpets where perfect but the chairs could have been ruined. Have a very good evening...
ReplyDeleteWell Wendy, it's an example of part of my week, but the seat are not ruined. They are not the best but at least they are not in a garbage container!
ReplyDeletethanks for the reminder..
ReplyDeletei seldom do..
it felt like watching a suspense movie as i read these lines. i had the idea what would happen next but so eager to know what would actually come about. forgive me jack, somehow it's interesting to see your expression when you learned about the mix-up =) my apologies. it wasn't a good experience but at least we learned something from it. thanks for sharing your story.
ReplyDeleteHahaha... glad there were no repercussions from it..;-). Try being super tired in the morning and grabbing what you think is a tube of toothpaste, only to find out you had grabbed your arthritis cream... after you placed the brush in your mouth...Yach!!! ;-D! Thanks for the share... :-)
ReplyDeleteAs Baz Lurhmann once remarked "Read the instructions, even if you don't use them".
ReplyDeleteAt least the place admitted fault and made good, could have been a whole lot worse!!
On a wet day that is only 13c, Baz Lurhamann was right as even today as me went on for groceries, I still smelt a little bit of solvent.
ReplyDeleteDont you know Mitch.
Nor do I! :)
ReplyDeleteThere was a time that I did place a cream for your legs in my mouth, it was the beginning of this year and I was getting ready to get "rigged up" and I was doing outside work with aircraft. I just had woke up, and rather than using tooth past I used an ointment of legs and joints. I cant tell you how many times I rinsed my mouth with mouthwash, lol - one was watching and thought I would asphyxiate....But it all worked out fine.
ReplyDeleteMost welcome in the afternoon of a very unbalanced spring that is at a temperature of merely 13 and pouring rain!
ReplyDeleteYes, indeed should pay attention and read the label before anything.... Glad they took care of it.
ReplyDeleteI was expecting to read that the seats melted into a blob of synthetics. Glad that was avoided.

ReplyDeleteWell you can't expect "cupid" to clean too; with all that arrows he has to carry around your car might end up with puctured tyres :)
ReplyDeleteBy the way, did you make any video of you having oitment for toothpaste? LOL ...
