Yesterday I had this strange call. It was “Petals for Less”. I asked them if they were sure they were or had the right person, and they asked my name and sure as it can be – it was for me. I had been up yesterday at 6am, by 8 the contractors needed the garage door to be open to pour the concrete after we finally had some really nice warm weather. As earlier the entire area surrounding the house was mud, and if you didn’t step on this metal pathway. You would literally sink into the ground right up to nearly half a foot. So here I had these contractors and then I had “Petals for Less” asking for someone to be at the house between noon to 4pm. Well it was Saturday and I love to head and do things and …I quickly drove off to get the Saturday newspaper and then rushed back. Still no delivery.
So I did several things around here that need to be done, but again it now was 4, and I wanted to go out. I was going out later, but I called “Petals” and asked them where what ever they have is. And is it going to show up or not.
Making a long story short, they indicated that they would not be able to deliver by way of their sub contractor delivery person. I told them that then if the person that sent it. They should be redeemed and have their money back. At this time I had a hunch as I think I knew who had sent what I had yet to received.
I finally left again and returned around 7 pm. Here I have two nice neighbors that came up to me and asked if my name was “Initiative Stain” – just kidding, they asked if my name was Jack, and I said yes. David and his wife then introduced themselves to me and she rushed off with a smile on her face and came back with these flowers. She smiled and asked me what is the occasion. I told them, and they wished me a happy birthday and it was the first time that we had met. I don’t know too many men that receive a gift of flowers – but it was nice as not only was “Petals for Less” – the petals/flowers were much more.
I got on the telephone and called long distance to a very good friend of mine. Not going to mention the name as with many I do have a few very good friends and this one in particular amazed me that she was so thoughtful. And the flowers are an arrangement, there is no grass laid down as of yet – but over this summer they will be on the front porch or on the back patio. I will be the first to say – I do love plants and flowers. And I do like tending to them and watching them grow.
I guess what I am trying to say here is that yeah it was my day of celebration, but I was amazed with a few things that have taken place – and if I can fit in a few pictures of these, they are really nice, and yes they are yellow. Friendships that have meaning and acts as such tell me one thing – there still are amazing, special people out there – even online. And fortunate for me, I have a gift that came from a very incredible person.
I already wished you a very Happy Birthday... but today is the day, and so... HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACK!!! May you be blessed, and have much laughter, from friends and family... and may that one wish you have come true this year...((((Hugs))))
ReplyDeletePeeks I know I just wished to write this story of what happened yesterday and as far as the birthday we all have them and I think the now and then there are very nice kind acts that people do, and I was surprised to get this and all that came with it! I am not going to say whom sent it but it was very nice.
ReplyDeleteG'day Jack.
ReplyDeleteCelebratory event, beautiful surprise gift, thoughtful friends, pleasant neighbours, happy tradesmen, does'nt get much better than that,
glad you enjoyed your special day, & yellow is my fav colour....huggs to you
I am back and see you are a lucky fellow to recieve flowers. Just having a friend who would take the time and expend the energy to brighten your day, is a true blessing.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you have enjoyed your birthday weekend Jack. Yellow flowers must mean you are a sunshiny friend, that would be my guess. Who knows. Hugs to you.
ReplyDeleteI've always thought that yellow is the colour of friendship.
ReplyDeleteGlad your day went well and to meet your neighbours through a friend who sent flowers is so neat....Is neat a word we use today or am I showing my age? :)
Dee I never thought of it that way. Yet yellow is vibrant. And as someone that I have admired and known for a long time - and like a relative - I am not going to say who. That is for her to say, it's a friendship thing that literally blew me away. I remember writing nearly 7 people for christmas last year. And this was sensational.
ReplyDeleteYour ageless! If anyone ever heard you talk - they would enjoy the vibrance of whom you are!
From online I had a few calls that were from different places in the world - which still to this day is something that is amazing, one is from Iraq, and there are a few others. As well I have literally in the past done some things for others. But this was something that was very special. And in a manner of gracefulness. I think that is rare.
ReplyDeleteAnd then within my friends I spoke to five different friends - most of which I went to school. When you treat people with and in a decent manner - I think that is something that you retain friends and yes it is a blessing.
Thanks Wendy. Ironic that you and Dee from Australia fancy yellow - is it an australia thing? Probably not. For me, as mentioned when you look close at them it's redish inside and yellow. Lets see where they are in one month from now. I intend to water them - I did where I lived before and I do have a green thumb. So the entire story was very symbolic in how this happened. What all came about in waiting for them.
ReplyDeleteI thank you Danielle. They were very nice. I know that the person was one that a very decent person that is rather very mature. And to say the least very nice in the manner that she did this.
ReplyDeleteG'day Jack,
ReplyDeleteFor me yellow has always represented warmth, it is just a coincidence that Yellow & green are also our nations colours, Yellow for our wattle & the Green for the leaves
Your birthday day seems to have gone very well. Your flowers are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI'll repeat myself and wish you a very Happy Birthday once again and have a great year.
Never knew that. That's much different in comparision to most flags I think.
ReplyDeleteLis you know what? Tomorrow is another day. I thank you but I saw where you could place your birthday in this multiply and I said - why not. Tomorrow is another day and in comparison to the last two years - this year was a very good one. Not spectacular but it was what it was. I fondly remember my mother telling me that I was born at 2am. We have emerged in life, and the number value is obviously there, and some don't feel comfortable with their age, but as I am in my 40s, I know that this idea of second chances does exist. When you have come out of many things and then forge ahead.
ReplyDeleteNot to be religious as I am moderate with it. I feel that with all being done in the last year has brought on a blessing. What will be tomorrow is only what one person does by way of choice. And I know that we all have the good areas of life and as well the ones that will come up at this age - but to understand that we come into this world and we make it to what we wish and desire to - is something that is not exactly that way. We do things as best as we can. I used to think on age to some extent, and now I don't.
Smiling and I think that everyone in some manner celebrates in their own way. I thank you.
* There is an interesting interview that took place with Sydney Portia recently. And how he described his life was something that was truly interesting. He was asked if he regretted anything in his life, and his response was, " I don't regret anything as I believe that there is some universal thread that if one portion of it was taken away, I would not be where I am today". Not that old am I, but the man is young in spirit. And he was comfortable in his own shoes with all that had taken place in his life. Thank you and I will wish you the same when that time does come.
it is a very good way to celebrate your special day..
ReplyDeletehappy for you..
It's getting late and within this weekend I truly found this amazing.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Within all these writes, it brings about something to ponder. That is in a very good way.
Glad you enjoyed your birthday.
ReplyDeleteBelated Birthday greetings. Sounds like you had a good one.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday my friend, I hope it was you hope for and more. Many more with health, work and peace.
ReplyDeleteI am late, Jack, but yet I don't want to miss this opportunity to wish you "Happy birthday"! I do believe too that everything we meet along the way of our lives is part of us and belongs to us and we would be elsewhere without that experience.
ReplyDeleteBTW, it is not usual to present men with flowers but WHY NOT! Those flowers are beautiful and you appreciate them, that's great! Have a great year!! ;-)
Yeah why not....anyhow, Mitch thank you much there. Clary thank you for the kind words, and my gosh I thought that I had done something wrong as Petra .......thank you much for posting.
ReplyDeleteIt was yesterday and now this is today.......Mondays are always busy if you know what I mean. Thank you as had to do some work after work.
And lifelearner I dont know whom you are but thank you....I missed you there and wished to say thank you.
ReplyDeleteYesterday I was truly amazed....and yet I get on here in the evenings as an expression. It's great.. If I may mention we all do share something in some manner... Regardless of where we come from or where we are born. Not preaching just reflecting....
