While I was at this festival at the front entrance there was the a courteous gentleman that was greeting everyone, I had ran into a few others that were there taking picture on with tripods as well, as they were part of an amateurs photo club. When I was about to leave, I pulled Mohammed aside and asked him if he could explain what this Festival was all about. He thought (you have to kind of laugh), well he thought I was some person from some media, news or otherwise and was kind of taken back.
I indicated to him that I just like to write on various things - so he was a little nervous and taken of guard but thereafter I think the audio came out well, and we exchanged emails as he wanted to see how it came out. So he kind of explained this much better nervous or not...it was a very nice festival. Within the cold my camera was freezing up so the pictures didn’t come out as nice as I would wish for them to be, but I think that Mohammed did a great job in explaining
it.
Very nice for a guy taken off-guard! We have these ice sculpture here during the Carnival in Quebec city and in Montreal on Notre-Dame Island when they do la Fête des Neiges, but this year this event has been cancelled due to problems with City Employees. It was very disappointing for the families who always look forward to that event.
ReplyDeleteI have never been to the Carnival in Quebec city - that is one of the largest if not the largest winter festivity in the world - I may stand to be corrected. I remember reading about where they even have a hotel made out if ice there in Quebec Daniel.
ReplyDeleteThis gentleman was a very nice man. He moved to Canada from Pakistan 5 years ago - not kidding.
Good morning Jack. You are well informed about the Carnival and ice Hotel which I believe is on the same site as L'Auberge Duchesney where I have spent a summer vacation, at Ste-Catherine de la Jacques Cartier, near Quebec city. That is where I have climbed my first wall. I wonder if that is also where I have ripped my tendinitis lol! I got to the top shaky, but I did it and was proud of myself for sure! OK, must go now, I am driving to the country to see mom. Take care my friend.
ReplyDeleteG'day Jack,
ReplyDeleteMohammed did a very good job, we are in the middle of a heat wave, but just watching that video gave me goose bumps, thanks Jack for sharing, that is the only way I will ever see an ice carving display
He did a fine job Jack :-). Have a wonder filled week-end my friend...
ReplyDeleteHe did much better than most would have done being taken off guard. Was really nice of him to be so cooperative. Thanks for sharing it!
ReplyDeleteJust got home and thanks - it's neat what can be done with the video portion of this Mulitply. Eating as reading. : - )
ReplyDeleteHe looks a little bit nervious, hey, but cameras and questions make the same effect on me :P
ReplyDeleteIt's a pity that many ice sculptures are not lasting because winter and ice time are shorter from 8 or 10 years to now. ly
Ironically they have something like this that takes place in Guatemala. I am not kidding. It's an international competition and it's all done outdoors - believe it or not - it's true. Not sand but they do it with ice - I am not sure how but I literally have seen it from a friend back one year ago.
