Al Franken had it exactly right in his 1999 bestseller titled: Rush Limbaugh is a big fat idiot.
I’m sorry. That was insulting. My choice of words were wrong. I certainly do not mean to personally attack Mr. Limbaugh. It was so ill considered attempt to be humorous, to illustrate the absurd with absurdity therefore again I sincerely apologize. As I know you are one that does exercise the freedom of speech in a discreet way. Coupled with you work as an unbiased reporter and not only earn your points by the points you make but your income is derived by that of the company you work for. Yet good company from other avenues only comes by way of luck. Now I am truly sorry as I might have said more than what was needed so again I do apologize. Mr. Rush Limbaugh is most definitely not an idiot, just a mean spirited boor who uses his tactics of that of a grade school bully to denigrate anyone who doesn’t conform to his rigid world view. Oops, I did it again I ‘m really sorry this time. How hypercritical of me to demonizing the Limbaugh in language he uses to demonize others. I promise it won’t happen anymore.

Limbaugh’s got enough problems at the moment without having other lame stream media getting all self righteous on him. No doubt that you’ve here about poor Rushes troubles by now. Seems the whole American nation, save Mitt Romney have finally had enough of the bombastic right wing talker and his poisonous rhetoric. Limbaugh took the extraordinary steps unlikely of him and actually issued an apology over the weekend to an on air attack against a 30 years old law student from Georgetown University in Washington by the name of Sarah Fluke.
Fluke became Limbaugh’s target for supporting an Obama administration policy that would have required religious institutions & institutions such as Georgetown, a Catholic university to provide free health insurance coverage for birth control In Limbaugh’s mind Fluke was a “slut” for favoring insurances coverage of contraceptives. As Limbaugh stated on air last Wednesday, “It makes her a prostitute she wants to be paid to have sex.” Not satisfied that he had not been offensive enough, he persistently went further to make a mockery of Ms. Fluke. As I quote, “So Miss Fluke, and the rest of you Femi- Nazis,” he began last Thursdays show with – “Here is the deal. If we (Rush was referring to America at large) are going to pay for our contraceptives and thus pay for you to have sex, we want something for it. We want you to post the videos online so we can watch.”
Limbaugh’s outburst proved the last straw for several major advertisers who pay big money for exposure on the country’s most popular talk show.
For Rush, being a man of principal, does not apologize within a small nor large effort. He has always come out unscathed. He survived the survived Michael J. Fox’s Parkinson’s symptoms in 2006. When he said Michelle Obama was a disliked because of here what he called, “uppity – ism,” supporters of the first lady just shrugged it off. Yes Rush was just being Rush. For Limbaugh to actually back down you know the “slut” controversy must have hit where it hurts most. Right where it counts, within Rush's piggy bank. I ponder why Rush literally rushed to make an apology which is one of the few at the most? Could it have been his employer coupled with the Republican Party? Things that make you go hmmm.
“I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices,” he said recently on the air. But the longer term damage may already be done, not just to whatever shred of credibility he had as a proxy for what he sees as United States conservatism – well lets verify what Rush means. It’s a no brainer that Rush’s “U.S.A. Conservatism” equals “Republican Paid Broadcaster.”
Let’s rewind back before Limbaugh went ballistic on Ms. Fluke.
Republicans from Rick Santorum, Roy Blunt of the Republic Party had sought out a means and ways to exploit President Barack Obama’s policy making on the contraceptive issue. The issues was one which stirred outrage among Catholics with a rule requiring religious- based hospitals, charities and schools to provide against there own conscience a free contraception to employees. A compromise proposed by Obama’s that insurance companies provide contraceptive free outside of the religious employers’ coverage – has not mollified Catholic bishops. But has satisfied other catholic groups that where opposite to the initial policy.
Seemingly the Republicans were given a little rope to hang themselves with this one and it may have been by way of President Obama’s shoes.
Senate Democrats last week blocked the legislation proposed by Blunt, a Missouri Republican that would have allowed any U.S. employer to deny contraceptive coverage by citing moral reasons. By turning access to birth control into a political wedge issue, the GOP is in grave danger of entrenching the perception it has come to be a political antagonistic to women’s health. The Obama administration may have botched its initial contraception policy which in turn created an unnecessary controversy when an obvious solution available but it’s smart enough to recognize a political opportunity when it’s seen. The Democratic National committee is already fund raising off Limbaugh’s comments. Obama telephoned Fluke to offer moral support after Limbaugh’s “inappropriate personal attack.” John DeGiola, president of Georgetown University. Described Limbaugh’s’ remarks about Ms. Fluke as “misogynistic” and “vitriolic.”
There was an immediate response thereafter from high profile Republicans whom are typically behind Rush then became very varied as to the manner which Rush had degraded this one young lady. House majority leader Eric Cantor, made comments as I quote, “Insulting, he is absurd but an entertainer. Amazingly, Santorum came out and said, “He was being absurd, but and entertainer can be absurd. Newt Gingrich commented, “I think it was appropriate for Rush to apologize.” Alas, Mitt Romney after all other Republic Candidates had voiced there thoughts with, “I will just Say this, which is it’s not the language I would have used.”
Some of the issues which are tactfully rendered for politics as the above equate to that which are a disservice to what is religion.
Not only was Rush way off but Rush has been on the Republican’s bank account since George W. Bush.
The Democratic Party may have rushed in with new legislature.
But most of all here was a young lady exercising her freedom of speech.
only problem is franken has been and will always be a failure on his own he must ride the coat tails of the famous
ReplyDeletehe was a lousy comedian in school and he has failed since then..........
why are you afraid of the truth that socialism is a failure and will always be a failure,
ReplyDeleteOr is it that you wish to finish shredding the Consitution that protects us citizens from the left....
ReplyDeleteGood writing here, not like the garbage the ReBooblicans try and scribble out.
ReplyDeleteHe is losing advertisers by the droves. Maybe this is an indication that the public if finally fed up with his boorish bullying.
ReplyDeleteThe choices of words specially when it comes to a known reporter or journalist could really gives an impression that would certainly ruins ones life or downgrade ones self esteem. That is how powerful words when uttered by a person using a microphone and aired, or when written. And often than not, those who are blessed to be in the position uses it to the detrimental of many. He is actually right in his advocate but his choices of words gave him. For those words, for my own thinking shouldn't be use for he isn't into a quarelling mode but only trying to pin point a stand. Bullying by means of harsh words could end someone career or his/her very life specially when the hearer do not excercise his faculties well, and reasoning closed. He may have some points if we only try to digest what he is trying to say, but it shouldn't be expressed in a manner that would put the other into an embarassing end.
ReplyDeleteNeedless to say I do find that there are such small areas which are taken for the sake a vote.
ReplyDeleteRush I have never found to be appealing. This may service as one of many areas in which voters
are getting turned off in voting. Freedom of speach is as well taken for granted - just perhaps.
I found over the last week was that nearly anything that retains a vote - is something which is desired. Just think of it.
ReplyDeleteOne gets into office and within that four year period they really have 1.5 years to accomplish anything. I don't think
we have seen the likes of this within the past or not to the extent.
I would wager that we shall not see the likes of Rush being Rush. What I find is that now this term which is within the first amendment of the constitution is taken far further than I have ever seen. His advocacy is tarnished as he has always been paid a part, and when there is one lady that defends here own thoughts the choice of words were discerning. I don't feel that religion and politics as such are those which go hand in hand. What I see is polidiculous which bastardizes faith as well as ones' freedom of rights.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your thoughts.
ReplyDeleteTo the contraire, J. I was born within America yet I do live here within Canada. I had not been on here
ReplyDeletefor a day and I just wrote on a subject which is applicable to any country.
I don't believe anyone who calls a female college student a whore for expressing her opinion deserves a place in the national spotlight and hopefully
ReplyDeleteLimbaugh's time on the national air waves has at last come to an end.
I don't know where he obtained his degree or for that matter Mike, I never saw the likes of him - but that all said I don't know if he shall be off the air waves but I would much rather see worthy reporting and less of the sensationalized biased reporting, And as well when blemishing one young lady or
ReplyDeletethe many others which he has maybe, just maybe this shall be the last.
I so agree with you.
ReplyDeleteI hope his fat ass is thrown off the air! His mouth has spewn enough crap to last us all a lifetime.
ReplyDeletenah, he is a big fat idiot!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is or he is what he is.
