~ Questions for Considerations ~ Are you on Facebook and do you find that it's secure? As well, could someone explain to me what Twitter is and what makes it so appealing?

  3. I did have FB but closed it. The lack of security was too great a concern for me and the ease at which anything can be taken from your page and reproduced. The other thing that just drove me to distraction was those ridiculous game-things and all the stupid messages you would get because of them. I don't do Twitter either.

  4. I'm on facebook and am liking it, above all that there are so many interesting pages that I can connect to, and make it all a little news bulletin of my own. As opposed to the *real* news, I find it to be uplifting and positive.

As for the security concern: I didn't suspect anything in the beginning as I don't consider my person to be intersting enough for someone to try something. But now I'm seeing signs of what could happen. For example, one morning one of our Multiply pals posted a link to a page with the title: Finally you can see who visited your page! When I reached that page, it had been deleted by facebook, and words like: *phishing* and *malware* were dropped. See what I mean? There are also applications which seem to take on a life of their own ... I stumbled upon one my first day there. For example, it sends itself to your friends with something like: Answer a few questions about Jack. Is Jack a good kisser? etc. It may seem innocent enough but the fact that it multiplies like that freaks me out. Fortunately one can turn those things off. Another thing is that the structure of facebook is sort of unclear, meaning that things are hidden in the most unusual places and when you try to adjust something, it may take a long time ...
Other than that, I'm all for it and hope I don't have to delete it due to security.

I had a Twitter (which I call twatter, sorry!) account for a whole 2 days. Drove me hopping mad! See, the kind of interaction that goes on there is: woke up, went to the crapper ... etc. I really couldn't care less! But some ppeople swear by it so that was juqt my opinion!

I have no idea what twitter is all about ... I did join it because the local school uses it for notices etc .... but it was beyond me so have never been back.

  6. Facebook is a virus waiting to happen. I play games on it and keep in contact with family. In the last week I know 3 people who have gotten viruses from there, including myself. Right now my laptop is completely useless after I accepted a friend request from my cousin last night. That was a mistake.

I have a twitter account and I just don't get it. Whydo I care that someone is brushing their teeth? Or why would anyone care what I was doing every minute of the day. It's a little creepy in my opinion.

  8. Yes I have Facebook, have had it for over three years. My first blog space, if you will was Yahoo 360, in which I enjoyed immensely, but became connected with many family and friends on Facebook, my daughter away at college at the time was the one main reason I ever even started Facebook. When they did away with Yahoo 360, I found myself lost basically, because I love to share poetry, photographs, etc,, it was like my creative space. So I started using Facebook as a means to share, but I have never truly enjoyed it, as it "feels" so "impersonal" to me.. It is less personal because it feels like a "stage", so very "formal" to me... I don't know why, it just does.. There is less creative flair with using that site as you cannot even customize your own page. It is typical and boring and I swear if I hear about "Farmville", or what ever kind of "Ville", I am going to scream.. :-D >> "Cocks head slightly, Smiles like Jeff Dunham's puppet called "Peanut" and Smiles :-P
I am extremely loving using this site called Multiply.. It is a creative outlet for me, there is great and wonderful people in which to share and connect with, that share in so many areas. I feel I can just be me, here.. I can't explain it, it just feels like a second home, just like Yahoo 360 was for me years back... Twitter, I don't even go there, don't know what it is all about and frankly don't wanna know, I'm happy here now that I found my space and place on Multiply.. I feel so very fortunate to have met some very, very talented, thoughtful, caring, creative, sharing, kind and wonderful people in which I have had the opportunity to meet right here on this site. Thank you for asking this question Jack.. Hugs to you. Have a great day and a wonderful week ahead. :-)
About it's safety, well I feel it is like any other place on the web, is any place truly safe? I think they have took certain measures into consideration to correct some issues regarding privacy and safety, which is good. But I never fully trust any site, could be a learning tool for others to misuse what they discover about you.. I mean basically people do put a lot themselves and about their lives via blogging sites for the world to see... I think it is good to know what your settings are on and who has access to that information. What about the people behind the scenes though,, hmmm always makes me wonder,, maybe I'm just suspicious, I don't trust all that well..

  11. Somewhere out there in cyberspace I have FB only as I was asked so many times but I have not touched it by the time I do I think it might very well be something new. The reason I asked this was there is so much out there now and I don't "tweet", don't "book" yet will read a book and eat a treat now and then :). But it was a question I thought was worth the asking.

  12. No social website is totally secure, and while I have a Facebook page along with being on Multiply, I limit the amount of personal information about myself on both sites. And I have no idea why people find Twitter appealing ~ I've checked out the website a couple times since it started a few years ago, but didn't see what the point was.

  15. i'm on facebook. secure it is not. definitely have to be careful as lots of viruses come which look like they are from friends. don't know why they haven't figured out how to stop that yet. but i just don't click on anything that looks suspicious...you can usually tell. i don't do all the games and other applications on there either. BIG waste of time. I have a twitter account but don't use it much. it's fun to keep up with personalities you like, but i'm just not that into that. i've found LOTS of friends on facebook and it's a great way to stay in touch with what they're doing. i'm on there alot.

  16. ...the thing i like best about facebook too is that you can upload pictures straight from your mobile phone. can show ppl things in real time. :) i actually have over 500 friends on there consisting of family, neighbors, community friends, ppl i went to school with and others i used to live near or whatever and haven't seen in years. most (but not all) of them are ppl i've actually had personal contact with instead of on here where my friends are all cyber friends....pll i've not actually met.

  18. haha.. you're funny. not saying you need to do fb! just telling you i'm on there and what i use it for. :)

  19. Yes I have a facebook account and I use it to maintain contact with my family and my friends. I don't see the appeal of a twitter account so I never even checked it out. You can post a note here and post a status change on facebook...same thing as a person would do on twitter.

  20. Rob I have never tweeted within my life there are so many applications what would be most interesting is to find a browser translator one that translates a writing into another language.

  21. I am on Facebook, joined with the ex-BF a year and a half or so ago it was the beginning of the end of our relationship (he got obsessed with Mafia Wars and reconnected with an old high school friend, she is now his GF), I dislike it and haven't been in for weeks. My page was hacked and my Yahoo email associated with it as well as my Yahoo Instant Messenger, the jerk emailed/messaged all my friends and family saying I was stranded in London and to send me money, luckily none of them were dumb enough to fall for it. My page was closed by Facebook as they said I conducting fraudulent activity, they were for letting people hack my page! Don't know why I asked to reactivate it. It's full of viruses too.
Don't care about Twitter, it sounds more inane than Facebook.
