United States of America...

United States is a country that I have lived in and at the same time I feel fortunate For me I have often felt that the statue of Liberty signifies so much about United States.  With liberty and a just  manner she looks far beyond the horizon and has that certain calm in her eyes as she examplifies what this day of the 4th means. Happy Birthday to one great country.

This should be the day that is one that has a worthiness. Perhaps it means several things as with each country but with United States there is a flair of patrotic worth.

That is not a bad thing at all. The manner that families celebrate it and how "we the people" feel.  As it should be.

  2. I agree. Most choose to celebrate with family and friends over a grill and backyard fun followed by patriotic music filled fireworks. At least, that is what I do. It does make me ache for the soldiers and their families who are missing them.

  4. I have fond memories of an entire neighborhood named Hillers Heights. Jenna I recall this from between 9 and 14. Mr. Hiller would dedicate his lawn to all everyone (he had a over four lots for a yard), and as the area was primarily Italian and some Irish and a few others. The food - 1! the singing, all the people together which was about 35 houses all in all - not kidding and everyone would just celebrate. Perhaps it was a bit of an Italian thing but I don't think so. I think it was about celebrating.
But we did not think about the war...it was about something more.
