A great day here with much that was accomplished and it's nearly time to prepare for supper. Gene Simmons : ) is coming here with some car races next weekend with his wife or long time girl friend of 25 years. Ironically he is kind of like some Donald Trump now and seems to be all over the place with this rock bank KISS as well as his own reality television series. The guy gets around - at the age of 60. I was there and back to see how far it was and I never realized how far that was! : )

With all the responses with regards the previous post, before I headed off to bed I thought of where this thread of thought was leading. And I thought about money, and whom we choose to "chum" with in our lives. Do we all live in a system or society that is based on a casting system? Within India, there was a casting system that was in place for thousands of years.
Have we changed at all from that or do base things about people regarding whom they are or what they are? I am giving this a shot, as it's something that is of interest. And I do think it has some worthiness. Yeah perhaps, I might be pushing it with asking these questions, but why not? Do we thrive to just include ourselves by way of typecasting? That is to say, do we decide whom we merge with and make friends with by way of how much money they have, or otherwise?
Doubtless we congregate with people in similar life situations---and income is an indication of how we situate ourselves...housing, employment (or lack of,) clothing, leisure pursuits, etc, etc. It is said we are attracted to people "like" ourselves so it has to have some influence. Perhaps that is what is so intresting in the cyber world...we aren't privy to that type of external evidence and we communicate!
ReplyDeleteThis question has risen for me during my life...especially over the last several years after going through a divorce and not seeing the people I used to once *hang* out with. I don't miss that lifestyle nor do I suppose I miss those people. Now, I am just me, simplistic me and I couldn't be happier.
ReplyDeleteInteresting write GA - regarding the internet and how we blog. I never thought of it in those ways. There was a time that merely a few could be online. Now, anyone can be.
ReplyDeleteWe do associate with people that have similar areas of interest I think. Not so much with regards to money. When we were young we aspired to be something, then as life goes on we gain an understanding of what is important and what is not. Some like people that are different than themselves, but there probably is a predominance of associating with whom is in our life realm.
Hi Kim, well I had the same thing. Not kidding but I ensured that I had a savings that I had built up and I went through a fast divorce without children, while several of my friends are going through divorce and what they are trying to retain is image and money. Then there is someone I met yesterday that is totally to the contrary. He could care a less with regards to what people think while he is divorcing. He stays at peoples places while and house sits and amazing to me he is very happy he loves his children. And he and his wife are the best of friends. He does it simple as he has to right now, and he could care a less as to whom or what people think.
ReplyDeleteI love meeting a variety of people. I literally do. Today in preperation for a meeting tomorrow, I met this person that immigrated here from Iran. (not kidding) whom is moved here just one year ago. we talked for twenty minutes. After buying a few shirts. She asked me where I was from and I told her. She was mature, obviously of a much different ethnicity and I am not too sure what her bank account is or was. That was not important, all that was – was the conversation we had. And I will probably go for a coffee with her in that one mall the next time. It was not attraction it was two people with similar ideas without judgment.
Hey wish to welcome you you have a very nice blog and as well you seem like a very exceptional person.
I know when I have pushed it with these questions. I hope that this one is something that does have worthiness enough that Part 1 and Part 2 show something and come to some conclusion. A small goal on here but it's something that is very authentic. This is one of those once in a "blue moon" hopes for a gathering of thoughts.
ReplyDeleteThis sentences speaks volumes friend...volumes. It is so true. There are so many opportunities in life like this except we tend to overlook them for terribly wrong reasons such as the ones you've mentioned, money, status, looks, etc. All that is important is our being/soul...because in the end, that is all that we will take with us.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your very warm welcome!!! My compliments to you also!
It's not about just me - it's about everyone - that is so hard for me to explain Kim. I do get to other blogs, time is one thing but right now in a very short time I probably wont have the afforded time as I do. But that all said the way I see my blog. I see it as something different. It's what it is, but it's about everyone and that is a hard thing to do, it's like imposing on people to write on your blog, but to see the diversity of people and their thoughts....it's about me and as well it's about you and everyone. But just the odd time as I don't set out the questions that much as it's a real reversal as people blog, and my blog is not a group. But it is what it is...
ReplyDeleteI think as I have become older and gained more experiences in the world, I have become more tolerant of the differences between myself and others. I came from a very prejudiced background within my family and some of them are still with these beliefs. I have found the world and people in general to be much different than what I had been taught as a child and emerging adult. Having a preconceived idea about someone due to outward appearance or material items accumulated is a poor way to pick your friends, in my opinion. A very thought provoking topic, Jack. Lyn
ReplyDeleteLyn as we get more mature I think we gain more understanding. I can't say I came from the same area, as I was brought up to accept all based on what they are, rather than whom or where they came from. And for that matter - what economic status. We emerge and learn when we have the ability to accept other people. As mentioned in Part I, I like some have been integrated, and as well when I see someone that is not of the same social status of me - regardless of if it's more or less, for myself that is something that I don't place much weight into. You can have a million dollars and merge with other people. I have seen it take place with some in life. Yet then I have seen it where there are some that have this value or an aristocrats. Which I don't believe in. I think the richness is which the mind and that is not about religion it's about understanding your own self and respecting ones that have and equal value. Yet here too like prejudice - as it's much similar, there are some that will think they are better than others - hence the casting system.
ReplyDeleteG’day Jack,
ReplyDeleteInteresting thought instigator again, ....My findings are yes to that question.
In a country where this mentality is more a culture that has traversed down through the ages, although not agreeing with the doctrine it is hopeful that in time with the world getting smaller, the individuals will in time come to gradually find and embrace a different path. Whereas for the rest of us I feel it is a matter of attitude to what the individual puts worth in. In having the advantage off an entrance to both worlds, the wealthy and the average, I see the different motivation that is the driving force of the wealthy, ( referring to self made fortunes here not inherited) be it ego, or resulting prior hardships, etc. This can and does often lead to, superciliousness or complacency, but while wealth and greed rule, I feel it is a preferred state for most in that place. At the end of the day it is or should be what you are not what your worth that matters
Almost akin to what the medieval Europe believed: with Pope being closer to God, then the King and so on to the pathetic commoners near the hell! lol… the cast system came to India through Aryans Jack, who invaded them from the north; Aryans came with a well-defined hierarchical system based on their 4 Vedas (Sanskrit scriptures), with Brahmins originating from the head of their god, Kshatrias from his chest, Vaishya from his limbs and all the way down to the Sutras reigning from his feet! Ironically Plato’s cast-less utopia ascribed to the Dravidians lived in the same land before their arrival, later confined to the south with their traditions annihilated! This is how societies are governed efficiently, and ruthlessly Jack. :)
ReplyDeleteAlthough hierarchy may appear as the prime key in cast/class-system, the real strength is the “commonality” that exists within each tier, because by nature people always cling to their clan, you know; of course for various reasons, viz., common goal, common benefits, common rage, common conspiracy, in short, anything that is common among a group instantly binds them! In fact, racial awareness, cast system, class groups and even political parities are actually “societal memes”; and as usual, these memes always defy the genes, constantly trying all their best to counter their adversary, i.e., the natural selection. Sometimes these memes win and sometime they loose, but as Horace Walpole, an eighteenth century historian (known to be the author of the word Serendipity) puts it: "The world is a tragedy to those who feel, but a comedy to those who think”! lol., Rightly so, I think we need to think over the feelings, than contemplate analyzing or fixing it.
One fine morning 354 million years ago one fish said “that’s it, I am gonna walk today”, so should we Jack, just laugh at the society and begin to walk out of it, well, IMHO! :)
The commonalities are something that are afforded us when we move past the "cast". I know what you mean. It's history and the world sometimes is a much simpler place when we do what we wish to do all allow or own lives bring about enjoyment.
ReplyDeleteAhhh, the fish said this yes? Smiling...thank you for the write and rather than ruthless, perhaps we all could use more of a life that is natural and from what many have indicated it's true from what we all came about with is that still today in our modern age there is a casting system in some manner. But the one thing I feel that works for me is that I believe in societies whereby we groom together in some manner in our lives. For the one that does point a finger has three fingers pointing back at themselves. I think the variety of what was intended with this surpassed what was imaginable. And you know whot?
It's all good. A conclusive thought yes we do have that way that we associate by way of choice - but I don't think we really actually believe we are doing it. Governments are, and yes like Wendy mentioned it's the bare bone facts of a society...Ironically humanity is what it is...Thank you.
Your writing with regards to what is convenient within a social structure. And it's rare I know that some do mix with others, I will say it as I know a few. But for the most part, yes I agree with you but I just do my own thing in my own way, at a certain age I think you find some understanding of what is worth and that comes again repeatedly from something that happens in life. A man give over 10 million of his money to a hospital to help people with a certain illness, one goes mixes with a variety of people based on the commonalities rather than the dollar signs. It's kind of like oil, you can live with it or without it - but you can try other means of creating energy. But it makes up only a small portion.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, I will enjoy my life in my way. As I like it. And I am sure that others do as well. G'day Australia!
~ Wendy this is not going to happen that often as you know and a few in here - that I would do these collaboratives of thoughts. And then thereafter bring it all together but within what all has been wrote it's something that I can not describe the variety of different views from people from various countries. ~
