Goals are not only absolutely necessary...

They are essential element in living life...

This write is founded on things that I have come back to understanding within myself and the areas in which I wish to pursue. This writing is enticed by an email I received back one year ago that I never had the chance to expand and write on. When the theme was suggested I started trying to notice some of the things I was going through and have gone through as well as the other side of the story with what I'm having to do related to the numbers of people wanting on to join as friends. Having to say no.

To begin the question of how to manage in your own dynamical way. I suspect it is common to feel a lowering of energy when one has put in the effort to try to connect in some manner (going for a job, getting a date, getting a book published, breaking up after various levels of intimacy and many more). One has most likely a deeper reaction the harder one has tried and found this final outcome. I'm no expert here as this is any area where I've still a lot of work to do on myself so I'm sharing from things I've picked up in my reading and observations and putting together here for the first time for me.

Remember the core goal. What is the burning desire behind the attempt or intention when weaving one's way with a motive of what they desire to accomplish? There's the famous story told of Colonel Sanders going out trying to find a backer for his Chicken recipe. In his attempts he was knocked back over and over. I've forgotten the number but believe it was in the thousands. The point of his persistence was a belief that he had something unique and of value and that others would want it. He recognized that only a

few in the population are risk takers and that if he was right in his belief then it was a matter of time before he would find the help he needed.  I suppose what I've just said in the last sentence is the second point. It is a matter of statistics. If you keep working towards the goal eventually someone will come who can connect.

The Law of Attraction. The more energy you put out in regard to something the more we will attract similar energy. This law seems simple but the reality behind it takes a bit of understanding or perhaps belief to make it work. Part of Visualization is getting energy in to it. The key word they used was working the visualization.

Example: One is giving a speech so they write what they want to say and then later give it. Someone else writes the talk then reads it over several times and then presents their talk. Given that both people are equal in ability when starting the odds are that the more successful speech would be the second persons. Now in this day and age those that often give the most effective speeches or presentations also put time into things like using powerpoint with pictures, graphs, illustrations, Often the speaker has learned to breath correctly when speaking and vary tone, pitch, speed of delivery, appropriate pauses for emphasis and possibly have a team of supporters helping to finesse it. Wardrobe advisers for instance. The whole point is to notice how much energy goes into success.

It doesn't all have to be physically done. The mind doesn't know the difference between energy expended in the mind and that done physically Studies show that basketball players imagining themselves shooting free throws can gain more improvement then one shooting at the basket for real. Part of what isn't shared in this that it is important is that the one visualizing the free throws has to remember deeply and fully every aspect of what their body does when they have thrown the perfect shot. There is a lot of energy put into those visualizations.

Faith/belief: This is going into a variety of areas of value and substance. The universe is waiting on us to be ready to receive the abundance that is there for us. There are life lessons connected to this faith. If we have any doubt lessons pop up to challenge us to accept faith. We are gifted with faith as we learn to trust and stop controlling things. Perhaps that's why we are getting more and more lessons about getting rid of the word try in our language. Trying suggests doubt.

Learning from mistakes: With every rejection we have the choice to use our wisdom and go over what we did and learn what went wrong so the next opportunity brings adjustments. One of the interesting things related to this is that most of us tend to get stuck into doing the same thing that doesn't work over and over in the belief that if done enough times the statistics rule will come into effect. Judgment generally brings us to a stop in our movement towards the task. It takes us out of the present and into the past. Keeps us from opening to the present and the blessings available. We lose energy that is better used on working towards the goal.

Allowance for free will: I'll illustrate with an example. Often in love one will fixate on having a relationship with a specific person who has free will. Goals that require changing another’s will generally don't work and when they do are most likely temporary. To attract love it would be better to work on being open to have the right person come into one's life. Focus on the qualities that person will have and make sure one's own energy is congruent. Living up to ones own standards are what give way to a pathway when free will is taken away, there is jeopardy in the will and what a person’s inclination as well as direction is. We all have that right of our own free will. It allows rather than forces.

Allowance is the ability to know - which leads to what to do.

  1. The picture reminds me of the saying, we will cross the river when we get to the river. You are right in saying that the power of visualization is very strong, such as in believe that you have received. One who puts their thoughts into what is most important to them, keeping a positive vision and in every act, working towards what they really aspire for are true to their goals, or desires and by all means, to themselves, and most likely, they will have better chances of success. For myself, when I really want to achieve something, like building a deck, I do not go to the grocery but to the hardware store, where I may go back many times, to see the types of materials I may need to do it, how much of it, which color I prefer, find magazines maybe which show different models from which I could be inspired. I may be doing it step by step, slowly, but I keep on concentrating on the goal, and keep it progressing. Chances are, I may have my deck built by fall, or maybe only next summer, but I will most probably have better chances to have it done if I proceed that way, than if I simply write it on a piece of paper and let it stand on my desk. Another very good example, and even better is when you wish to visit Europe, and make plans for that. You tell a friend and you discover that they too have the same dream. Then, you are two with the same vision, which gives even more power to the images that you both make in your head of the perfect trip. You may not agree at first about the dates, or the length of the stay or places to visit and that is rather normal, however you have a chance to discuss it ahead of time and make adjustments. You both share the excitement to see that project happen in a few days, a few months and every time you meet, speak on the phone, you have this common goal creating a bound and boosting your enthusiasm. Of course, one can change their mind in the process, and decide that it is in their best interest not to go forward with the idea for their situation has changed and their is a shift of priority they have to make. However, I am sure that they would make sure to let their partner know well in advance. That would only be a mark of respect, and the partner could find a plan B, either change destination or find a new partner for the trip. In life, anything can happen and when people are respectful of one another, their is always a solution which will be satisfactory to all. All is in the manner we handle the curves. This was a very interesting blog dear friend. All the best for a great week to you Jack.

  2. I am embracing my own time, in nurturing the means to a way. I have come this far and right now there are times there are two people that share for now. I reside where I reside and it's a plan A for me. Right now the time that I have afforded is towards doing small training, getting an MRI done, and within it all that is my trip at this moment and I don't see beyond it. I am focused....small training, surgery on my two knees and then work.
Some understand when one wishes to have that time to remedy things on there own land, the place that they live, and the place where there feet are planted. With all do respect for a friend that does write in a tremendous manner, thank you friend.

  3. I have been away for a while and now I wonder what happened to your knees. You seem too young to have degeneration.

  4. I have an MRI happening this Friday, tomorrow I find out for sure and then thereafter I will have both legs injected with a lubricant that most people have but as I ran allot (lol), and as well implants. So right now I have been training in a moderate manner and it's all working out as I don't wish for atrophe to set in as so many will stop doing everything. Welcome back!

  5. You have covered plural topics here .
I personally think that to use your energy to achieve any goal that you have set your mind on that is a priority is the only way to grow, keeping in mind that if it is a very personal desire you are working towards, it should not encroach in any way on another’s field of expansion, (of course couples are a different matter). I see so many times people making the same mistake, My friend for instance always married heavy drinkers, she herself never drank but had in mind that she could change them. That sort of arrogance that suggests to one person they can change another deserves to fail, Why should we change to please another. We alone are responsible for any change we want to make in our own life. Good blog Jack , makes one look into their own mindset and remember sometimes it is better to stand back until asked..
Keep on keeping on my friend…….

  6. Yeah Wendy they were plural probably an expressive plural in many ways. As you know, there were some tremendous writers that I would actually look at what they wrote and or what someone said and I would write about it.

This was one that was just something that I thought of when I arrived home yesterday afternoon and it just was from the night before in watching a movie and reading a book the night before before heading off to bed. You hit the mark right on the head with what you have just wrote. Rather deep I know but for me I love to write in a way of my own. As well as within life. Why not?

  7. I got lost in between the write... LOL.... wendy is probably right, there is plural topics here and i can't focus on one enough before another one followed...lmao!

but the first time i read it, i as attracted to your title and the first line of the blog! you see we are into the Goal ORiented Project Planning or GOPP.... it is widely used now and some call it the Logframe or Logical Framework when we do planning within our organization. It is actually putting all the nitty gritty details into the plan to achieve the goal that you want to get... so needless to say you need your visioning and your goal before you can even start this planning proper.... so without your bigger vision and your goals to be achieved inorder for you to get going on your vision, you cannot plan the daily/weekly/monthly undertakings inorder for you to achieve your goals... it is therefore a mantra for us... Visioning Visioning Visioning!!!

but on the otherhand when i was doing this type of planning, though very effective to achieve the goals... it is very detailed to the extent that it is limiting! Oh yeah, it would make it very easy to get to the goals, but then it would also get rid of the spontaneous things that come along... little things that mean something when explored... signs probably... i dont know if im making myself clear... lmao!!!

but it is like I was planning to go climb Mt Apo (the coutry's highest peek) and because i need to do the climb in 3 days and not four but still go up the summit, we had to plan out the whole route, the trail we should follow and the time in between the walk and the taking of pictures.... they are all timed and planned.... when we started climbing in the middle, we didnt expect to meet the native people living there,,. or seeing a new variety of pitcher plant or see the wonderful lake loitered and full of garbage! to stick to your goals would be to just move on and climb...

then here comes your last sentence: allowance for free will!!! this then made us stop interact and exchange with the people, took pictures of the pitcher plant and cleaned the lake! yes we still did get to the summit, and we did enjoyed the trip but we didn't make it on time!.. meaning more airfare and additional stay cause we missed our flight back!!!... well i do not know if my goals were really achieved but surely my vision of the climb was met and then some!!!! TOTAL, it was more than i ever wanted to achieve!!!

Yes, indeed the goals are absolutely necessary, essential element to LIVE Life ...

and when coupled with the "Allowance/ability to know which leads to what to do" is to LIVE Life FULLY!!!

  9. Just had a meeting with an old friend and as I read this no you did not what you wrote is an expansion of a share and it turned out the way it did and it really does mean and have significance.

  10. I think the term “goal” must be distinguished from various other milder forms of synonyms, such as Objective, Ambition, Purpose Aim, Vision etc.

There are two important characteristics drive a goal: Perception & Intentionality. Ok, first the power of perception: Two controlled groups, for a set period of time, one fed with lots of food and the other starved. They were asked to look at the clouds at the end of the controlled period and write down what they look like. The “fed group” said they look like cotton, wool, and smoke, and the “starved group” said: buns, mushroom, broccoli and ice cream! lol. Having defined what a perception is, see how it works with intentionality; well, best explained by an example again: Say if you have an important mail at your hand to post, then what your mind expects to see through the window while you drive is anything that is red in color (mail boxes are painted red in my country) and simply ignore (or dilute) anything that is not red! But as soon as the goal is accomplished (posted the mail) the intentionality ceases, consequently the perception changes: meaning, all colors magically seem to grab the attention now (distraction, I would call), including the traffic cop in white uniform! lol.

The point is: When a goal is set, the intentionality alone drives (or should drive) the perception as I mentioned above. Hence there is “no room” for freewill, faith or learning – that’s why a drive towards a goal is called a “mission”. If there is no mission, then the end-point is not a goal… may be it’s a vision, aspiration, or an ambition; but definitely not a goal. :)

  11. So well put....thank you. It's the act of doing what you desire to do. And then acting on what your goal is.
