The War of 1812 is a historical point between the Canada and the United States. The interpretation of who won the war is of long ago. Yet it has defined Canada equally as well as United States. Within all of this what I like most of all is that there is a joint venture agreement between these two countries to build another bridge. What makes these two countries tremendous is what has taken place since 1812. http://www.warof1812-bicentennial.info/news.php

  1. I did a write up on this yesterday. The US Declaration of War from 1812 was read in Baltimore on Monday kicking off the bicentennial celebration of the war.

  2. The eastern upper states and eastern provinces have all. It started on the east coast and went right through to the west. Now I don't know any country within my history books which have
come to be as close as these two nations. Look at where we are now. In a manner it has shaped Canada and America's identity - yet there has never been the dessention between these two
countries. I am not sure that has taken place in the manner that it has between Canada and United States.

  7. We in theWestern states don't get much in the way of commemerations about the War of 1812. But you right, Jack, two great countries came out of that wrenching and bloody affair and so far we have kept the peace and the borders unguarded from each other's troops. We are so lucky down here to have Canada as our neighbor.

  8. We certainly are within this subject matter as there are more common grounds than otherwise.Certainly there are some which on both sides may have other takes on it. Within this time-line of history. What I found to be most interesting is that both nations - came to be what they are. After it all came to an end Canada came to be. And United States came to be. It's a time where most tend not to think of. Yet there are proud Canadians as well as proud Americans. For the most part what came thereafter was two large nations which have enjoyed their roots. I never have seen two countries whom have more in common and the only thing which does divide us is that 49th parallel.
