I do realize that I have around 120 people as contacts/friends. I do get on here within the evening. It's a summary if you will and there are many groups and friends which are on here which seemingly have dissappeared. I don't expect much on here as I have posted some personal areas of my life. What I do find of recent is that there is a feel in lack of better words of avoidance when I am on. I see people whom I have know for a long time on here whom would rather make a mention on my blog which is that of the past as well as I have had a few earlier which seem to take this all to serious.
I can only speak for myself as I have never had that tribal mentality as to how I post. I do consider some of the material which I post as I do love to read before I come into Multiple.
I have sent out a few messages to some friends which I do enjoy. We all have our own way of posting and I don't look at being the best of the best here on multiply but I do believe within respect. It might be virtual yet everyone is on here for a reason. I hope that those whom I share as friends are that of friends. This is said sincerely - I don't have a microphone and it probably would be better if I had "voiced" this but all the same. I would gather that most all that are friends are friends for good sakes not for otherwise.

ReplyDeleteJack, I have noticed more of a change since the weather has turned nicer. It seems a definite drop-off in communicating online, and not just here. For my part, I have been busy with a number of things and find myself a lot more brief in replies. (Can you believe it?!) Keep on doing what you do best, I suppose? :D ~ Blessings!
ReplyDeleteSeveral of my contacts have 'turned off' their sites (not just on Multiply). One wrote that she was going to spend more time with her grandchildren - another wrote of family issues that needed attention. I know I've stopped some posting because of the days we spend at outpatient services for David, and I'm seriously considering taking a 'sabbatical' from the 'net for a while.

ReplyDeleteJack....with the couple very powerful aspects we have had lately and the times we are in I am seeing so many people whose lives are so full, juggling many balls and unfortunately here can be an escape from life but often it is one thing that people tend to drop due to their hectic lives.. I relate to this well since my life is pulling me in so much and a few of the groups I belong to here I can hardly find the time to read the posts... this in not because I don't care or am not interested but there is only so much time in the day...

ReplyDeleteI have noticed this and the friends within here ironically as it may sound are that which are much like family. When I get in here I find that here are some which have tried to portray myself in a negative manner. When this happens Grammy - I am not into it. I know of your situation with David. I do understand your situation as ironically I have had my own situations from which I have handled on my own. I don't subscribe to passive aggressive people whom get off in bring one down.

ReplyDeleteI believe what others have said. I find people aren't here as much anymore. New sites are popping up, and summer vacations are starting. Even myself, I'm finding it hard to keep up with my friends. Between work and that grand-baby, my free-time is getting cut back. But when I am around, I enjoy visiting everyone that I can. ReplyDeleteOur lifes are so busy and somehow friends come and go, the friendship is always the same but we don't have enough time for being in touch to someone we care. Damn time and lack of it, dear Jack! let's be doing our best and opening our arms to our friends, they are the best we can gather in our ephemeral days on this Earth.
