There are no other social networks that I know of that I would choose. Facebook would be a definite NO. There is Linked In, but that is job and resume related---no. MySpace and 360 are gone.
I am in facebook and have been there for many years. I do not have a problem with it, you just have to use common sense and it works - just don't believe everything you see there and ignore the stuff that seems to be an insult to your intelligence. Otherwise I have never depended alone on Multiply since Yahoo 360 disappeared. I learnt my lesson and have a constant back up with my stories and poems in Word Press. My photos all on flickr. Also have some in Photobucket and Picasa. No problem. If Multiply collapsed I would be sad at losing a lot of colleagues I have met here, but I am sure there would be a solution in another social world somewhere.
I only have two sites Jack, and considered Multiply as my home after 360. I won't be happy anywhere else althou' I have fb and meet my friends there from y360 where we all started. I almost closed this last night but that is for another reason, tight hugs
I too Have standbys but have much difficulty setting them up I am also on Facebook and not long ago I thought it was the last place on earth I would be but I am very happy there and as Tabbynera said if you take care of your settings and ignore rubbish which I am very lucky never seeing it is a great place to be.But having said all that it would break my heart to lose Multiply.
Blogger an Facebook. Many of my running friends are on Facebook so it's not a writing site but a catch friends an family. I'd try blogger for the writes.
Actually I wouldn't really compare Facebook to Multiply or any other blogging site. On Facebook you cannot blog in a creative way. It is more hello, how are you. I even found a closed site on Facebook from my old school - just great. Full of old class photos, info on teachers and other such stuff. some of us are really "old girls" j, but not something you would ever find in Multiiply of course. You have to know what you are looking for in this social computer world. Had never heard of Blogstar so had a quick look, but not my sort of thing. I also tried blogger for a long time, was using it as a backup to Multiply, but not really my comfort zone. did not find many connections there. I am happy in Multiply and WordPress. WordPress has a bit of a professional touch and you can even turn it into your own domain for an annual fee, although not something I would not do any more.I did the exam for web assistant and did actually do two web sites, but I am too old for that sort of thing now. A lot of work and concentration, although I am glad for my http knowledge.
We need a backup I think.... Yahoo360 just went and alot of people lost touch after this , when I first cam to Multiply it was just by invitation, a friend invited me on .
If..........would be better to wait for real news about Multiply's changes, instead of thinking of moving, it causes useless concerns by here. But IF, I'll quit Internet's social sites forever, all I know are boring, Multiply is still the best for sharing.
Because I am getting into Social Media Marketing as a career I have a couple sites already besides Facebook I have deviantart, linked in, foursquare, constant contact, twitter, prezi and tumblr. I should add I have all of these because these are what is driving business today. Gone are the days of websites, newsletters and direct mailing. If you want to contact clients and expand business you have to know how to touch base with them in todays world.
I don't know where I would go next. I'm on FB, but that's an entirely different experience. I like to be more creative and have meaningful friendships with blog folks from all around the world. FB is where my grands, some relatives and some of my real-life friends prefer to be. Even though my list of contacts there is larger than here, and still growing, I spend much less time on FB.
Hmmm. It would be as it was when we lost Y360 - go where my friends have gone. Right now I have FB -- use it for family and church information, sharing photos, posting some links. I also post my devotional blog on Blogspot - but neither FB nor Blogspot offer the interaction Multiply does.
I think this is Multiplies non answer answer. It is from May 15 Hello everyone.
Sorry for taking a few days to post my promised followup; Things are pretty busy for me, two weeks into a new country and new job. Also, I wanted to take the time to absorb your comments and get a feel for your sentiments.
Please allow me make some things clear, and I hope they go some way to dispelling some of the fear and uncertainty that people have expressed.
I believe that social and commerce can more than co-exist; the social features of our site are what make the commerce so powerful.
Multiply is a global site, but has bigger reach in some markets than others, and we have chosen to base ourselves closer to the markets where we have the most active and growing communities. That is Indonesia and the Philippines.
Whenever there's a big change, people become anxious. No decisions have been made regarding one part of our community over another, or shutting down anything, or throwing anything out, or any of the various fears that have been voiced in the comments.
In the 20 years I've been online, I've seen many communities come and go; I've had my own content and efforts suddenly disappear from under me. Only this week, a site I founded in 1998 finally, and sadly, went dark (I've not been involved since 2003). I know the pain that this can cause.
So I promise this; if it ever turns out that such actions need to be taken: We'll give people plenty of warning. We'll provide means for people to export their content or migrate elsewhere. I think Multiply has a fantastic future; I've moved halfway round the world to be a part of it, and I hope we can all do it together.
I'd like to thank Peter and the team for building Multiply into what it is today, and for all their ongoing help as we make the transition to South East Asia. They'll be working with us for a few months yet, though.
A last personal comment; I've never believed that the internet was about a single country, a single language, or a single community. The internet the first medium that truly allows the whole world to socialise. As well as ours, the majority of Google's users are non-US. Same for Facebook, Twitter, Wikipedia, and in fact, pretty much any site you choose to mention.
Wherever you live, whatever you speak, whatever you believe (unless you believe that the beliefs of others are somehow inferior), you are welcome here.
no place to go if Multiply quits on us. Dont like facebook and I have tried Hi5 and a few of the others and dont like any of them....too much weird crap goes on like "buy you" and just stuff I really dont care for. Guess if this place goes the way of 360, then I will be out of luck unless a new one comes up to replace this place.
I had read this when I was last on here and that was his second address which he had made. In my experience when there is a need to reinforce the status of a site that gives way to a presumption Sharon. if you notice within his wording...."So I promise you this; if it ever turns out that such actions need to be taken: We'll provide means for people to export their content or migrate elsewhere."
This was the second writing on this subject which let me to assume there is some transition that shall take place.
For myself I enjoy Multiply, I always have the one there have been several changes with so many area of the internet...I do have google plus but many of these areas are so hard to figure out. But this time if there shall be a change - I will be prepared to migrate, yet ironically I am in no rush.
There are no other social networks that I know of that I would choose. Facebook would be a definite NO. There is Linked In, but that is job and resume related---no. MySpace and 360 are gone.

Personally I do not think that we will have to go, Multiply would look after its members , we are indeed a loyal lot !
