On the Eve of Canada Day

I never knew much regarding Canadian History if it was not for my father whom was first and foremost a Canadian and as proud as they come about Canada and its history. Within my youth upon my father’s retirement, which lead to returning into Canada I was placed into a private academy in Northern Ontario by the name of Scollard Hall. At the time it was a huge transition for myself yet it was my beginnings of learning within a Canadian manner – if that is an appropriate way to write it.

There is a great diversity to Canada the diversity is in a manner which I have always found to have no definition – the reason for my saying is that Canada in the past never had laws within it’s immigration. From a country named a Dominion to later on be called Canada. To define a country is rather difficult to place a finger on as from Newfoundland to British Columbia there have been changes which leads into where Canada is going. Most would summarize what this country by way of comparables to our neighbor within the United States. Yet Canada is growing and with it’s growth there has been a rise in immigration over the last two years of the likes that Canada has never seen – that says something. Mind you at the same time Canada has placed very strict immigration policies. Which if someone wishes to be a Canadian they do have to know in depth what the foundation and history of this country is. I have always believed in the manner that Canada is very cultural. As well, I believe within immigration which has skyrocketed of recent does need to have a stringent process with new Canadians.

In the past I have wrote on Canada as a rather unknown country. Yet within the last five years I have seen more changes in accord to the lands and the people. Within international affairs Canada has been a well known as a peaceful nation. Canada recently was rated as the 4th most peaceful nation in the world. The economy of Canada has probably faired out very well when you consider all that has taken place over the last ten years. Which leads me to the thought that Canada shall have more of a presence in world affairs – while at the same time maintain a manner of what is Canada.

On the eve before July 1st which Canada celebrates it’s birthday. There are some very noteworthy things which Canada has done, yet the commonalities are within more of a leisure bond. As Canadians (those whom I have know) never take themselves too serious. Yet literally across the lands tonight and within the cities there will be Canadians which are singing the national anthem as well as enjoying things in a prideful manner. Some of the historical people I have enjoyed are Lester B. Pearson, Alexander Graham Bell, Tommy Douglas, Oscar B. Peterson, Pierre E. Trudeau, David Suzuki, Allison Morrisette, Bryan Adams, Rush, Samuel Bronfman. As well by default, I have always been proud to those whom I have known within the military, with a slight bias for the Air Force.

Everyone within Canada has some thing which they find this nation to be. Canada still retains a humble manner yet Canadians do celebrate what once was called Dominion Day – which now is a weekend of celebration called, “Canada Day”.

Canada is Diverse on a day which is that of celebration. There are more words from which to say but it's a great land, one of which I do cherish. For those which have enjoyed the collage I have loved this land and where Utopia is - is where one plants there feet. I do feel fortunate to be live within this country as it's a charm which I have been privy to see from one shore to the other. One summary which comes to mind is it's non chalante and most of all peaceful with capacities which only to feel and see are that within worth.

These Fast Trips

Last night while I was reading on here there was a storm where at 6pm - the sky became so dark that it was literally black. You could not see a thing outside. What followed there after was winds that you know there is sound and then a silence. Shortly thereafter hail the size of golf balls. When the storm seemed to be over I headed off to bed as I had to get up early for an appointment which I had. When I went to have a shower - there was no power and then I understood that the entire town went out. As there was a second storm which went through.

The only place which was open was a convenience store and I grabbed a coffee and then to my amazement every town on the way to Saskatoon was out of power. And the rain well I don't know how the farmers shall make out this year as the fields are literally flooded out.

When I arrived at my appointment it all took place but the office was out of power, thankfully there were window. Afterwards I went to on large store to get a few things and how ironic it was that it was open for business yet there was only enough power to have the tills operating. I have never seen where a certain area which encompasses towns and two large cities hit so hard by a storm. I didn't have the time to take many pictures yet I was able to get the things done.

I never saw so many old trees broken down, nor as much enterprises closed. I just took three pictures all in all but while I was en route to another place I had to turn around and take another street. I don't know how many trees where take down by the winds.

In all the times which I have lived in Saskatoon and area, I have never seen the storms of the likes of this. I would ponder on how much damage was done.

I'll Be Darn

Boy it's not a transparent world is it? While I was loading up some pictures I found one of my...old best friends from Syracuse, New York. Joe and I were very competitive back in junior high. Yet for some reason we meshed. Joe was always wished to illustrate how far he was coming. In some ways Joe was a best friend when we competing for the New York State physical fitness Presidential Award. He had his focus on beating me. I knew overall that Joe was far stronger than me he was as agile as they came. Yet I just stuck to what I was doing as I would run at night, go to Aikido class and then it was the time where I was literally training and then heading down the street on Meadow Drive to hang out with another friend Rick as we nearly spent the entire summer in the pool.

Joe was always trying to engage me into a competition before class. Yet I would just shake my head - yet I knew he had strengths that were far surpassing mine. It's funny how competitions can bring about the manners, which took place. Yet Joe forgot to work on other things aside of just weights. When all was said and done - I beat Joe and it was within the 600-yard dash. When I left Syracuse - Jim was still teed off. He basically gave me the index finger. Well it didn’t seem that Jim was as great a friend after all.

Two years later at the age of 17. I took a flight back to Syracuse after grade 11, it was my own summer break and a chance to meet back up with five friends that included Jimbo. Jim was the most eager to meet up. This was different and then thereafter when I returned back I went to University and then was managing malls. I don't know back at that time how Jim had found me but my roommate handed me a letter. When I arrived home from work, and here it was from Jim. The letter took me by surprise as he sent pictures and wrote what he was doing as he was in California. What a surprise to say the least as I had wavered from everything except business and growing the mighty ladder. This was many years, so I decided to give him a call from my office and there after we kept in touch. This was around the age now of 24. There is one thing I will give Jim credit with is that he didn’t just do something - he really took on things. I mean not in a small manner but in a rather large on. Yeah this was Jim - just like in the days when we were kids how he could defy the odds physically he seemed to carry on ceaselessly.

Things came to a stop for what ever reasons - I remember calling his folks years ago and they had indicated to me that Joe had some problems. He was back living in North Syracuse near Oneida Lake. I don't know what happened with Jim yet my hopes are that I will have a response as when I was in my photo page there was one person whom is a friend from Michigan and there were pictures of Joe.

I do believe in relinquishing old friends - this would be a worthy one as although we where different there was something which had kept us together. I remember telling my five close Canadian friends that it would be the entirely awesome if there was some way that my chums from the States could meet with my chums from Canada it would be the most neatest thing. Unfortunately with the geography that never would happened.

But it will be certainly something if there is a recap between two old pals. It’s a small world on this Internet! And this was merely by means of a coincidence.

A collage if you will of some of the photos which I have take today.

Winds B4 a Storm.avi

I thought I would take this small video just before the wind gust. It's been very hot followed by hurricanes. The last few days have been atypical. From very humid high temperatures thereafter followed by rain.

As of this weekend I believe we have had a record-breaking season of the wet stuff.

If Multiply was going to give 60 days notice and offer to export you to one of many social networks - what would be your choice?

Melodies make for Longevity

Paul McCartney turned 70 two days ago.  One of the two Beatles still alive and the only one still performing and recording on a regular basis, the “cute” Beatle shows no signs of slowing down as he enters his eighth decade.  I wonder if he remembers when he sang “When I’m 64” back in the 60’s now that he is a half-dozen years past that age?

In case you missed it Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys shall celebrate his 70th birthday today. The original band, except for the two Wilson brothers who have died, have patched up their differences and reunited in honor of the group’s 50th anniversary with a tour and a new album.

Mick Jagger is younger, with his 69th birthday coming next month.  Apparently, the Rolling Stones will tour next year to celebrate their 50 years as a band.  Elton John, not slowing down at 65 and Steven Tyler at 64 are relative infants, and we are told to expect Aerosmith to come out with some new music as his band mates seem to have gotten over their pique about him becoming a judge on American Idol without consulting them.

It’s interesting to see music icons still performing.  Maybe it is true when they say 60 is the new 40.  I guess that makes 70 the new 50, 80 the new 60, and so on. That’s good news for Little Richard who turns 80 this December and look at Tony Bennett who come August shall celebrate his 86th.

Of this Day

There have been more tornado and funnel clouds which have appeared within these parts. We never get this type of weather.
Yet here we have - it's not typical. We have received more rain
than any month on record.

A DREAMER AND HIS DREAM

As you read the story it's one which is that of an inspirational one. It's about a boy named Jesse.  Let me tell you, Jesse hated this job. And you would too, I imagine, if you had to do it. Jesse was a chicken plucker. That's right.

He stood on a line in a chicken factory and spent his days pulling the feathers off dead chickens so the rest of us wouldn’t have to. It wasn't much of a job. But at the time, Jesse didn't think he was much of a person. His father was a brute of a man. His dad was actually thought to be mentally ill and treated Jesse roughs all of his life.

Jesse's older brother wasn't much better. He was always picking on Jesse and beating him up. Yes, Jesse grew up in a very rough home in West Virginia. Life was anything but easy. And he thought life didn't hold much hope for him. That’s why he was standing in this chicken line, doing a job that darn few people wanted.  In addition to all the rough treatment at home, it seems That Jesse was always sick. Sometimes it was real Physical illness, but way too often it was all in his head. He was a small child, skinny and meek.

That sure didn't help the situation any. When he started to school, he was the object of every Bully on the playground. He was a hypochondriac of the first order. For Jesse, tomorrow was not always something to be looked forward to.

But the boy had dreams. He wanted to be a ventriloquist. He found books on ventriloquism. He practiced with Sock puppets and saved his hard earned dollars until He could get a real ventriloquist dummy.

When he got old enough, he joined the military. Although he was hindered by many health matters Jesse was one to persist.  The military did recognize his talents and Put him in the entertainment corp.

That was when his world changed.

He gained confidence. He found that he had a talent for making people laugh, and laugh so hard they often had tears in their eyes. Yes, little Jesse had found himself. You know, folks, the history books are full of people who overcame a handicap to go on and make a success of themselves, but Jesse is one of the few I know of who didn't overcome it. Instead he used his paranoia to make a million dollars, and become one of the best-loved characters of all time in doing it!

Yes, that little hypochondriac, who transferred His nervousness into a successful career, still holds the Record for the most Emmy's given in a single category.

The wonderful, gifted, talented, and nervous comedian who brought us

Sincerely

I do realize that I have around 120 people as contacts/friends. I do get on here within the evening. It's a summary if you will and there are many groups and friends which are on here which seemingly have dissappeared. I don't expect much on here as I have posted some personal areas of my life. What I do find of recent is that there is a feel in lack of better words of avoidance when I am on. I see people whom I have know for a long time on here whom would rather make a mention on my blog which is that of the past as well as I have had a few earlier which seem to take this all to serious.

I can only speak for myself as I have never had that tribal mentality as to how I post. I do consider some of the material which I post as I do love to read before I come into Multiple.

I have sent out a few messages to some friends which I do enjoy. We all have our own way of posting and I don't look at being the best of the best here on multiply but I do believe within respect. It might be virtual yet everyone is on here for a reason. I hope that those whom I share as friends are that of friends. This is said sincerely - I don't have a microphone and it probably would be better if I had "voiced" this but all the same. I would gather that most all that are friends are friends for good sakes not for otherwise.

Sincerely

INITIATIVE STAIN

I truly understand to those whom have enjoyed this as a writing platform. As well, I do understand that my posts are done much less than before yet there is something to be said of friends being friends. I write within the eve and I don't get on here during the daytime - yet that is ones' perogative. However, I have recommended friends to other friends. Honesty is the best measure and I truly do place this out there to everyone as I believe that some have a manner of having friends which are not favorites. Meaning they may not see what I have wrote here. Please do respond within the next 24 hours as I don't desire to have this as a prolonged note. Sincerely, ~ Me ~

Not for the Innocent....

A Lady from Vancouver was a tree hugger and anti hunter who purchased acres of timberland.

There was a huge tree on one of the highest points in the tract she wanted to view the natural splendor of here land so she climbed the tree. As she neared the top she encountered an endangered spotted owl.

It’s attacked her!

In here haste to escape the women slid down the tree to the ground. The fall left her with several splinters of wood in her crotch.

In extreme pain she hurried to the nearest doctor 30 minutes away. She told the doc she was and environmentalist and anti hunter and how she came to received all the splinters.

The doctor listened to her story with a great patience. He then told her to go into the examining room and he would see if she would help. The impatient patient sat and sat and waited for three hours before the doctor reappeared.

The angry women demanded, “What took you so long?”

He smile and said, "well I had to get the permits from Environment Canada, the BC Forest Service and the Work Safe BC, before I could remove Old Growth Timber from a recreational area."

OH CANADA

Rainy Daze.avi

Within the afternoon with pouring rains after returning from a voyage to the local grocery store. It's been raining and it looks like it shall last for one more day. You can't control mother nature. Nature does as nature feels.

A Courageous Story which Most do Remember

In Gander, Newfoundland, a young Vietnamese woman disembarked from a plane refueling from Moscow to Cuba and asked for asylum in Canada. Her name is Kim Phuc and she was the girl on the famous 1972 photograph that brought the world's attention to the horrors of the war in Vietnam. Today she is in her thirties and mother of a baby boy named Huan. She met her husband Bui Huy Toan when they were both studying in Cuba. Today they live in Toronto and have become Canadian citizens. Kim has been named recently United Nations Goodwill Ambassador. She also recently had a second child.

If there was one photograph that captured the horrific nature of the Vietnam war, one photograph that tore at our collective conscience, it was the picture of a nine year old girl, running naked down a road, screaming in agony from the jellied gasoline coating her body and burning through skin and muscle down the bone.

Her village in the Central Highlands of Vietnam was napalmed that day in 1972, and the little girl took a direct hit. It would take many years, and 17 operations to save her life. And when she finally felt well enough to put it behind her, that very photograph would make her a victim, all over again.

Kim's Story is both a universal and a deeply personal story. It parallels the fate of Vietnam itself. Both Kim's suffering, and her courageous recovery mirrors that of a whole people. It is also the story of how one little girl's tragedy would be used by all sides. Peace activists, journalists from all over the world, and Vietnamese government officials saw Kim as a symbol, not a person. She wants to tell her story now, just once as a testimony. Then, she wants to move on. Kim was born in 1963 in the hamlet 30 miles north of Saigon. Her full name means "Golden Happiness" in Vietnamese. She remembers happiness despite a childhood of war. On that tragic day in June 1972, the tiny hamlet was occupied by NLF forces. The South Vietnamese Army's 25th Division was called in and heavy bombing began. At 2pm the South Vietnamese dropped white phosphorous marker bombs. As she ran with the other children, four drums of napalm dropped on the road. Two of her infant brothers were killed instantly.

"I saw the bombs. I saw the fire. There was a terrible heat," Kim remembers. "I tore off my burning clothes. But the burning didn't stop. People poured water over me from their canteens. Then I fainted."

The AP photographer who captured those horrific moments was Nick Ut. He drove her to a hospital. He would never forget that one little girl. He continued to visit her in the hospital, bring her books and gifts and eventually set up a fund for donations to her family. The photograph he snapped of her agony was instantly transmitted around the world. It would win him a Pulitzer and change both their lives. Kim would spend the next 14 months in the hospital. She was covered with third-degree burns over half her body and was not expected to live. Her pain was almost unbearable. Her surgeon Dr. Mark Gorney of San Francisco volunteered at the Barksy children's plastic surgery hospital in Saigon. When he first saw her, Kim's chin was welded to her chest by scar tissue and her left arm was burnt almost to the bone. During this period, documentary footage was shot on Kim's recovery. Her mother was by her bedside, helping the little girl through the trauma. Kim said to herself she would become a doctor like the man who saved her. In this film we will attempt to reunite Kim with Dr. Gorney and photographer Nick both now living in California. After two years of treatments, Kim returned to her village.

All these years later, the photograph of the little girl retains its haunting power. To Kim it is "my photograph, of my own war." Yet somehow it belongs to everyone; the one image more than any other that turned public opinion against the war. Now, as Vietnam and the United States finally move toward full diplomatic recognition, this documentary hopefully contributes to a process of healing of this century's longest, most divisive war.

The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Concert - Finality

What I found over this time which has now ended in celebration with the Queen is that it was something good.  In the times which we live there are so many things which are rather tense.  Yet what I have seen from this 60 year dedication to the Queen is that it was enjoyable to be able to watch.  Not that often have we seen international events which are enjoyable. This was one of them. There are several areas I could place within here yet I don’t think it’s necessary as this jubilee was one decent celebration.

Sometimes events as such are just as pleasant as that. This is where the internet almost takes you right there. I thought I would place Paul McCartney ‘s performance during the last evenings concert in London.

Computing Replacing People

Thirty some odd years ago, when personal computers began to  sprouting up in offices and homes, doomsayers warned that computers would start replacing human beings.  Companies more interested in money than people thought, “Great, bring it on”, and many working stiffs began to get nervous.

Don’t get me wrong yet there are some things which are necessary and without a computer has come to be a need more than a want in many areas aside of merely enjoyment, if I didn’t have one, I am not sure I would be able to tend to several areas in which I need to get done.

As computers evolved through the 1980’s and 90’s I think we found we were using roughly the same amount of people because computers, while excellent tools, hadn’t yet replaced humans, at least in most occupations.  However, the digital world is constantly evolving and computers are constantly getting smarter and faster.  In another thirty years, give, or take, they say we may actually have artificial intelligence like Data in Star Trek.  Slowly but surely, the replacement of an employee or two is taking place in certain types of businesses.  The media is a good example.  In the 1980’s a radio station needed announcers to broadcast “live” 24/7.  Today we have the ability, as necessary, to record (we call it voice tracking) announcer breaks into the on-air computers that are equipped with sophisticated software that knows how to schedule music, commercials, and announcer breaks seamlessly.

Voice tracking is often used in the middle of the night.  Newspapers are going more digital as well.  Post Media announced a slew of job cuts last week across the country and the editor-in-chief and publisher, was quoted as saying all roles, from managers on down, will be redefined with a digital focus.

It seems those old predictions are starting to come true, at least in occupations that use technology to gather and spread information.

And the media may just be the tip of the iceberg.

Silent Justice of That I Declare

Silent Justice - Of That I Declare

Nearing of night comes the pleasures

Within natures delight sounds of evening crickets

Singing to their own tune coupled with murmurs of birds

It’s a universal cadence of justice within the my silence

A secret justice within my soul

I hold to my own – yet my soul glows

Far beyond is that moon the justice within the night

That within a harmonious blissful term

Void of any concerns more so an openness of joy

All encompassed with a moving shift

Not too fast nor too slow a conclusion without concerns

Worthiness within the silence as echoes of nature renders allowance

The stars merge in a process of no declaration

Only to be so precious at the day’s end

A secret justice within my soul

I hold to my own –  my soul glows of the justice

Within natures secret share of that I declare
