If you want to find your true purpose in life, know this for certain: Your purpose will only be found in service to others, and in being connected to something far greater than your body/mind/ego.
Well that is weird...I just got a request from my church to list the things I would be most willing to do with the gifts I have been nurturing during my life, that I could use to improve our communtity. I already do some things, but your quote puts things in a different light so I will re-assess. Thanks. Are you still going away for a while to visit your friend?
I am moving Karen...but the merits of what I posted are truly what I believe in....I hope to write more this week as I really wish to get some of my thoughts within here. I hope to get some done between now and Wednesday...
Having an ego is a normal part of our psychological make-up..having none would mean having no personality at all, no sense of self. Service to others is the key phrase here and its that which brings true fulfilment.
I guess it depends on how you see ego really. Being a spiritual soul means having no ego ... that doesn't mean one has no personality or sense of self. The Dal ai Lama has more personality than any man I have ever met ... he has no ego! and neither did Mother Theresa. One makes a decision to relinquish the need to control, the need to be approved, and the need to judge. Those are the three things the ego is doing all the time. Ego masks the self .. the soul. Service to others without ego is far more fulfilling .... than expecting fulfilment from it. The fine definitions of ego .....
Read my mind...it is a part of our make up. Ego is something which does bring about fullfillment. Being is within bring about all the encompassed areas I think within the make up of each and everyones personality. Yeah...
I hope to write on this as I have been so much on the go with other areas and it's all in a manner of Toa Lynne I think within that art of just - Being... Grabbing glasses ...to service others is to not be self inclined to not have to judge yet render oneself within just being one's own self. Ego does have many definitions.
I've rarely come across when ego was anything but harmless.... its really a shame when u see someone show that quality... to me it means they are not secure w/their ownself...
For me .... Ego has but one definition .... it is nothing other than the focus of conscious attention .... but I guess the individual could find many different definitions? ... ego is an activity, not an entity .... Its something we create. Ego doesn't freely allow one freedom ... freedom of speech and freedom of opinion are all hinder by anothers ego. The word would be a lot more peaceful without ego. Just my simple thoughts .... what I personally believe.
I am looking forward to reading more about this from you .... ~smile~ ....
I agree!
ReplyDeleteWe do have something in common...

I have to agree w/you Lynne.. The word ego has never had any good connotation whenever I've heard it used in reference to someone...
