It is rather late to say the least. Yet it`s been a full day nevertheless. During Sunday while visiting within the town. We stopped off to get some air before meeting a very nice....lady. Well, she is not just a lady she is a the mother of someone that I know here. In some way this shall be explained at a further date. However...the gent was from Boston. He come into this very fine town every six months of the year. How we struck up a conversation was that he and his wife were holding a Pomeranian. My folks had one for 14 years. I was taken within a conversation as he was a former teacher. We talked and discussed Canada and the USA for an hour, I am not sure that went over that well with either his wife or my ....but I was amazed at the amount of history that he knew. Certainly there was a dialogue as we truly were both within the same mindset yet it was all to interesting with some of the recent areas from the 80`s and on that took me by surprise. My father was called to go back into America after he retired I recall it very well as I was asked if I would wish to go back for a while yet my father decided to decline the offer as my older sister and brother wouldn't have been able to re enter into United States. Yet we talked about so many things that so often we just write about and literally it amazed me. Then he asked me where I was from and well this is where there is that two sides of the coin as he thought I was American but was not sure. When I told him the entire story he understood it well as he said that I seem like an American yet within my lingo there was something different and that is where the half and half seems to come into play so much. I never in my life have meet people that come to Canada for six months of the year. It usually works the other way but apparently he has distant relatives that are related to former one of the former Prime Ministers wife's` family. Rather neat if you as me and it all started with a Pomeranian.
Go figure. Ironically we both left with a handshake as well as an exchange of numbers with an open invite to come and see them at there cottage anytime at all. It is a small world after all...
Just love the journey of life .... some things pass us by and other thing come into our world to change it!! Sounds as though you have made another new connection!!
ReplyDeleteI always say there is a reason why people cross our path..
ReplyDeletesounds like a good day
ReplyDeleteOften people say things happen by coincidence if so this was a good one. The journey of life yeah...
ReplyDeleteJules I do often ponder that or do we just reason it out. Yet I do think about things often as I did last night...
ReplyDeleteA very good one...
ReplyDeleteYes it is a small world, nice day that you had and interesting connection
ReplyDeleteA great many I have a few more days and here it snowed...and still is. So while I have done some things around the house I did go out and take a few pictures as this is a big surprise to many just the other day I finished racking everything and was read to get out the lawn mower however here they never get the winters like Saskatchewan. However what I find amazing is how many people literally do know where Saskatoon is within Canada and as well as outside of Canada.
ReplyDeleteJust got in here and I got this feeling I am going to be doing some handyman things and thereafter I might be shoveling the white stuff Cherly. Now this is something. Yet it is a small world...
ReplyDeletetheir are reasons why people cross your path , good pic too, thanks for your nice comment hugs xx
Hi Rosie just about to head out do you really think....hmmm. However hugs there...this is something to think about. Yeah.
ReplyDeleteJust checking in to see what you're up to today Jack. Ah yes, life is good for people who are friendly, caring and interesting ... like you. Well, OK... like me too. :-D
ReplyDeleteI rather like the quote that I heard many years ago, "Coincidence is God's way of staying anonymous".
It's rare for me to find someone like that--a stranger that you can talk comfortably with. Surely your own knowledge of history about the two nations and your love of dogs was a great help in that.
ReplyDeleteFrani I love that quote as it`s late here and I wished to write something. ``Coincidence is God`s way of staying anonymous``. This is very fine indeed :)
ReplyDeleteDoug literally I find that there is always someone from which I find interesting from within a scope of whom I meet. Certainly there are some that your not as in tune with but this chap literally was someone that was all to interesting and if there was not a plan of meeting family members there would I think there would have been a very enjoyable day. As soon as we spoke it was just a very natural thing something that literally brings me back to my roots. The manner that we talked was within the very same manner that I recall - I shall say it Americans are more down to earth in a way that I was raised in and oh this gentleman really was someone that we just started with a simple hello and then we walked along and talked on areas that we both obviously were at ease with talking about. We were really discussion that was on these two nations and then some. Yet it was not serious...yet it was something that really we could have spent literally the entire day as I am sure we shall in a few weeks.
ReplyDeleteIt just sounds like a lovely day!
ReplyDeleteBack then yeah and before you know it Cath the weekend is here!
