~ The Questions We Ask ~

What if ..............................................some apply to the future and some apply to the past. I think it all depend on where each person is place.
May I as you what your what if's would be? Keep it as general as you would wish for it to be.

  1. G'day Jack,
All I can think of is any "what if''s" I had would relate to the future, I am a strong believer in you can't go back & even if you could every thing would be different so no point..it is almost like wishing, for the lottery win or for something we really don't think we can get, but dreaming of what we would do with it, It is hard being a realist as the only time I recall using the term is when we are planing an event or outing, as in, "what if we do it this way, or go here or change that" , I will check in here later just in case I have got the wrong slant on your query

  2. What if... countries are open and each one could just come in and go out from one place to another, meeting each other easily and knowing each other's language, enjoying each other's places, accepting each ones commonalities and respecting each ones differences, no tarrifs on each others products no WTO No World Bank... LOL .. it'll probably turn economies upside down... LOL .... no wonder it will remain a "What if" forever...! go figure!

  3. What if the world had less governments, what if I decided to do something that I had not done before and faced the consequences regardless of what the turn out may be. What if, I had no food, .......
What if I had went another direction with my life earlier. We all have some personal and not personal questions. Some lean towards the future. What if I thought I would use rather than "Why not". As why not has always been my slogan. Good morning on a cooler morning than expected.

  4. That is the question Jack, a good question. What if all borders and no taxes on import/export is a good example, that would sure do a big difference in the world. I think for me it could be what if I had to choose between love and my career, what if I was offered a job with a lower wages but that would offer me more free time and less stress. There are others, more specific and personal. Each have pros and cons to ponder, choices are easier than others. In the end, the most important is to come to decisions and to be ready to live with the consequences, and adapt to the changes that our choices involve.

  5. Amen to this ma'am.... read this one a long time ago and it somehow stuck, "Ultimately, it is not our abilities but the choices we make that defines who we really are!" -- Harry Potter Book 1

  6. Good morning, Jack ... an interesting question you posed, my friend ... I can only think of one "what if" that would change humanity ... what if Jesus was acknowledged as Lord in the heart of everyone ... imagine the awesome effect it would have on how people think, act, feel, treat others, etc ... love and compassion would be present for all, the hand of mercy and fellowship would transport us from any depths of loneliness or despair ...

But looking at it as everyone else does, I don't believe in "what ifs" ... I think our lives are the results of what we make them ... sure- circumstances can alter the course, but how we respond, not react, can make things work out in a positive manner ... if we're given lemons, we can make lemonaid, lemon pie, or just hurl the things against a tree ... if mistakes were made, we can learn from them and try to do better ... but we are a result of our choices- good or bad ...

  7. I think probably my biggest personal ''what if?" question would be "What if,all those years ago I had chosen to stay in school and go for the career of my choice?" Second would probably be "What if I hadn't wasted so many years as a "fixer"?
I try not to spend too much time thinking or wondering about the what ifs that involve the past since it's impossible to go back and choose a different path. My what if questions that involve the future I'd as soon not say, I guess. Haha, guess I am afraid if I talk about them very much I might get inspired to actually take the leap and find out.....

  8. I just realized I forgot to include my biggest non-personal what if....What if parents went back to raising their children rather than babysitters, daycare centers, etc?

  9. For myself, I look at "what was" in my youth, and "what if" I had done something differently with a particular things - it will happen now and then. But I think more in the manner of what "can be" while is more of a forward thought.
Sometimes I do believe that one does have to take a look at the "what ifs" of the past to understand "what can" within the future while understanding that nothing ever comes overnight.

As far as global views, I do believe in the "what can" can be done, as it's the only manner that this world can work on a social and economical scale.

Neat! on day here in which we got snow! What if we did not get this snow and it stayed nice. But tomorrow it's going to be gone. And then I can go about doing things without having to shovel snow.

    Yesterday <-----Today ------> Tomorrow. : )

  10. Reality is that you can not go back in time. Wendy now and then I think that there is a tremendous movement of people that are of a certain age that have gone through things and sometimes they have to face what has been done and what has taken place to understand what can be. Just my thoughts.

This is not a spiritual thought it's just something that I was thinking about as I see so many now that are my age that are going through situations like divorce, and so forth and I do think they have to go into the past and question mentally where they were and what happened and then this allows them to move on with what can be. I have a good friend that is going through this right now. And at some point there is a time where one needs to look into what happened to get to the current placement in life. Just my thoughts.
